Presenting…. the cover!

It's finally here! My cover! It took me a long time to research what works and what doesn't, what photos I could use, and what I couldn't, and some back and forth with my wonderful cover designer Jenni Wheeler. As I will reveal inside the book, this is Danny Clute on USS Frank E. Evans while she was on the gunline off Vietnam in May 1969. Danny took his photos to get developed and never retrieved them. He was among the lost 74 on June 3, 1969. About two months later, Kodak contacted his family in San Jose, Calif. to give them the slides.

There were many photos like this, of young men fighting the war. This one stood out. Danny is what all of them were: young Americans off fighting a war. He was 19 when this photograph was taken.
